KWAME NKRUMAHS CONSCIENCISM: A PHILOSOPHICAL ANALYSIS
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY: According to African statesmen, the whites even after granting independence to the colonies they were governing left as a parting gift to the Africans the concept of neo-colonialism. Neo-colonialism is a situation whereby the black man feels inferior to the Europeans and derives psychological satisfaction only by associating with them. Even till today, traces of neo-colonialism are still visible. The African never values any product that is of African...
View DetailsA CRITIQUE OF THE MORAL AND RELIGIOUS NIHILISM IN THE PHILOSOPHY OF FREIDRICH NIETZSCHE
ABSTRACT: This study is necessary in the face of the present-day unscrutinized quest for faith or religion. For this reason, it followed a thought-pattern that argued the credibility of God and religion. Thus, the major task of this work is to criticize without reservation this religious and moral demise of Nietzsche and restore the supreme value to its place in the world. This study does not however exhaust the rigorous arguments concerning the exi...
View DetailsA PHILOSOPHICAL APPRAISAL OF JOSEPH FLETCHER’S NEW MORALITY
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: The problem to be treated is about moral decision-making. How is one to act when faced with a moral decisive situation? Life presents us with situations where decisions are not so clear-cut. Saying yes to one perceived good often means saying no to another. The question “what ought I to do” in a given situation raises conflict for us. Making decisions is a part of man’s life. Man tries to make the right decisions a...
View DetailsA PHILOSOPHICAL EVALUATION ON THE EXISTENCE OF GOD AND THE PROBLEM OF EVIL
Background of the Study: For centuries, people have sought a solution to the conundrum of the existence of a supernatural deity who is almighty and omni-benevolent but permits evil to exist (Manyx 2019). Three intellectual demands may be seen to be served by belief in a supernatural deity. It provides an explanation for the world's existence and nature, assurance that life is worthwhile, a solution to the issue of how one should live, and the ultimate fate of human b...
View DetailsA PHILOSOPHICAL LOOK INTO RELIGION AND FREEWILL IN THE LIGHT OF JAMES WILLIAM
INTRODUCTION: There are two good things in life: freedom of thought and freedom of action. In the whole world man is the only being that is condemned by its nature to be free as well as to be religious. So by nature man is endowed with the power of the will just as he is equally endowed with religious tendency.
Freewill in the simplest term means the freedom to make choice. Moreover, man in his own very nature cannot extricate himself from the bondage of making choi...
View DetailsAN ANALYTICAL CRITIQUE OF THE FIVE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF NIGERIAN EDUCATION IN THE CONTEMPORARY SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL TRENDS IN THE COUNTRY
ABSTRACT: According to Taiwo (1980:75), for sense of national unity , a country where people are different races, and each race tries to emphasize its own importance and there are social or tribal jealousies, one race fears the domination of another race, it is always very difficult to make for a national system of education. This study is of a critique of the five main objectives of the philosophy of Nigerian Education in the contemporary so...
View DetailsAN EVALUATION OF KARL MARXS IDEA OF CAPITALISM
ABSTRACT: The historical record demonstrates that individuals throughout time have joined forces to establish organised societies. The purpose behind this is to facilitate harmonious coexistence among human beings. As a result, society is a construct that has been created by humans. What criteria can be used to evaluate the fairness and justice of a society? These questions are seeking answers and are of significant concern to political philosophers. The concept of capitalism...
View DetailsA CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF DAVID HUME'S EMPIRICISM: AN IN-DEPTH EXPLORATION
ABSTRACT: The perpetual process of acquiring information is a fundamental aspect of human existence, which may not pose any apparent difficulties to individuals who are not well-versed in the intricacies of this process. However, philosophers throughout history have regarded these as significant controversies. However, within the field of philosophy, a particular focus has emerged within the subject of epistemology, which aims to examine the process by which...

View DetailsMORALITY AND REASON IN THOMAS AQUINAS PHILOSOPHY: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS
ABSTRACT: I intended to expose the indepth meaning of reason and morality. Using man as the major point on this discussion, due to the higher rational faculty he possess over other creature.
We shall also answer the question as: has reason any influence or part to play in morality? Or put simply, is reason necessarily required for man to be moral? If yes, should reason be the sole factor for morality? But if no, what then?
This work is going to be base mos...
View DetailsFEMINISTS CRITIQUE ON ARISTOTLE GENDER PERSPECTIVE
GENERAL INTRODUCTION: Since time immemorial, people have held the view that men are superior to women. This vision of male supremacy is clearly reflected in all traditional families and societies to an extent that even women were made to accept that they are inferior nature.
Over centuries, men and women have so internalized this culture of male supremacy, that even when a woman is known to be in possession of the actual power, especially in a family where the woman...

View DetailsA CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE PREREQUISITE OF A VALID WILL
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
The concept of WILLS is of great importance. This concept originated from the Roman Law and was passed on to English Law from where the nations of the Commonwealth accepted it as part of the received English Law. Its origin lies in the fact that it was thought highly desirable to actualize the wishes of a dying person as a legal and binding obligation. This involved the person who...
View DetailsTHE PROFOUND RAMIFICATIONS STEMMING FROM DAVID HUME'S PHILOSOPHICAL FRAMEWORK CONCERNING IMPRESSIONS AND IDEAS
CHAPTER ONE
Introduction: Are we not often at times shocked by the discovery that what we thought was certain is later proved dubious and false? If this be a regular occurrence, is it not the case that we may become suspicious of all claims to certainty? But then, the history of human opinion rightly forms the most fertile source material for the development of any theory of knowledge. Yet, no theory or belief has proved so full of absurdity, that i...

Science In The Seventies
If a reasonable analysis is made of the whole periods in the history of science, the fact that science brought much innovation to mankind cannot be denied. Throughout the history of science, one could see attempts by scientists to exhaust all that are practicable as far as our world of reality is concerned. But these achievements of science have not been without problems.
Alexander Denis sees...

GENERAL INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION: Aristotle in the commencement of his “Metaphysics” wrote: “pantes anthropoi tou eidenai oregontai phuse” (all men by nature desire to know). ABSTRACT
Soren Kierkegaard’s philosophy marks the beginning of a new way of ascribing meaning to the existing being. His contribution to this new direction was to find meaning to human existence, who exists as an individual. For him, man only realizes himself and lives authentically when he excludes himself from the crowd, takes his decisions as an individual, lives his life and faces his own death all by himself. Also, to live an authentic existence, man must...

ABSTRACT
Anti-speciesism, as opposed to speciesism, is the view that non-human animals are sentient beings and so should be granted moral status; a position shared by the Igbo culture which accords moral considerability to a good number of non-human animals. Existing studies on animal ethics have addressed these issues mainly from Western socio-cultural perspectives without significant contribution from the African cultural ambient that could provide complementary insights toward th...

High records of occurrences of child mortality were documented in ancient Rome and in modern Ibadan. Available studies on ancient Rome focused on the effect of female infanticide on the population, and those on modern Ibadan, concentrated on the effects of cerebral malaria on children below the age of 5. However, these studies ignored the comparative possibility of health situations in both societies despite their related experiences. This study, therefore, compared the cau...

ABSTRACT
Philosophers of culture assert that culture is at the root of injustice and subversion of the principles of international cooperation; such that a theory of global culture ought to precede any universally valid principle of justice. In political philosophy, major writers on global justice have attempted to develop principles of justice that would apply universally; but these attempts have been largely unsuccessful because they failed to pay sufficient attention to the signi...
