Abstract
This study examines the effects of innovative planning and sustainability strategies on the performance of micro, small, and medium manufacturing enterprises (MSMEs) in Aba, Abia State. Using a survey design and a sample of 350 respondents, data were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings reveal that innovative planning significantly enhances productivity, competitiveness, and profitability, while sustainability strategies particularly economic and social dimensions strengthen enterprise resilience and growth. Moreover, the combined adoption of both strategies produces stronger performance outcomes than when applied individually. The study underscores the strategic importance of innovation and sustainability for MSME survival and competitiveness in emerging economies. It recommends greater support from policymakers and business networks to foster capacity building, environmental responsibility, and adaptive business models.
